Description

Laphroaig was founded in 1815 by two brothers from the unassuming Johnston family on the south coast of Islay. Named after the location that the distillery itself was created upon, the name loosely translates to the 'broad hollow by the bay'. Rich, sweet and nutty. Walnuts, maple syrup, pancakes. Delicate spice of cinnamon and cloves. Peaty with bbq smoke, oak and vanilla. Dried cranberry and walnut shells.
Palate
Sweet at the front, salt in the background, with a velvety smoke. Salted caramel and almonds. Full-bodied smokey character, with dried fruit, caramel, and dark chocolate. Raspberries, honey, black pepper, smoke, iodine, medicinal, brine. Brandy-soaked dates and Champagne raisins.
Finish
Never ending and mouth coating, savory and spice. Hint of sea salt and a touch of spice. Pepper, smoke, tires, brine, honey, raspberries, band aids, and a chocolatey note.
