Description

The Limeburners Directors Cut is a premium Western Australian Single Malt Whisky, part of the 'Directors select reserve of barrels' and considered the top of the Limeburners' range. It is distilled and aged in Albany, Western Australia, using premium local barley and pristine local water. This cask strength expression is non-chill filtered and made from peat-smoked malted barley, with peat hand-foraged from the Valley of the Giants. It is matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels and finished in an Australian sherry cask.

The contrast between sticky date and dark chocolate, then the turn toward tangy passion fruit, gives this a lively shape. The ashy wood smoke on the nose and woody bonfire smoke on the palate bring a welcome smoky thread without crowding out the fruit. Its sweet, smoky finish sounds like a fitting close to a rich, varied character. This is a particularly appealing direction for a peated single malt, with enough contrast to keep the sweetness from feeling one-note.
