Formed after Fred and Stewart Laing parted ways in 2013, Hunter Laing is under ownership of the latter and his two sons. The company took over Edition Spirits and began releasing their First Editions series. Since the demerger, Hunter Laing claimed the following ranges: Old Malt Cask; Old and Rare Selection; and the Sovereign. The First Editions range from Hunter Laing's Edition Spirits branch contains single cask bottlings from various distilleries. This particular expression is an 18-year-old Linkwood, distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2015 at a cask strength of 59.5% ABV.
