Description

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society was founded in Edinburgh in 1983. This 2013 vintage Linkwood, a 12-year-old expression, is part of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society's Two to One series, where two casks from the same distillery were married and then finished in a first-fill European Oak Ex-Pedro Ximénez butt. It was bottled at cask strength as an ultra-small batch release, limited to 500 bottles.

Nose
Things opened with a rich nose of cashew butter, salt crystals and rapeseed oil drizzled on toasted ciabatta and served with summer berry cordial. With water gave the nose a splash of lapsang souchong, a squeeze of orange, a dash of chocolate bitters and toffee popcorn.
Palate
The palate matched the nose, and added vanilla fondant, birch beer, blackcurrant taffy and flambéed blueberries with brown sugar.
Finish
The palate finished with autumnal notes of nutmeg, root beer, ginger chocolates and jammy red wine.
