Description

An old Lowland malt distillery with a tumultuous history. First established in 1772, it operated in fits and starts until its final closure in 1994 and it has since been lost for good following a fire ten years later. Today the brand and remaining stock are owned by the Loch Lomond Group.

Nose
Lemon, grapefruit, tart pineapple, and a whiff of gasoline, with chalkier and more mineral notes, gooseberry, cream, and a leafy character. Soft, creamy pastry, vanilla sugar, candied orange peel, and a touch of ginger and orange blossom.
Palate
Cereals and a developing sweetness, with a nice texture. Musky fruits like peach and passionfruit emerge, balanced with malt and tart citrus.
Finish
Long, with sweeter fruit building and then turning acidic. Roasted malt and oak notes, along with a leafy character.
