Description

An old Lowland malt distillery with a tumultuous history. First established in 1772, it operated in fits and starts until its final closure in 1994 and it has since been lost for good following a fire ten years later. Today the brand and remaining stock are owned by the Loch Lomond Group. * *

Nose
A lovely, fresh and delicate start; green apples and dry cider balanced by a little crisp, sweet malt. Acacia honey adds richness, alongside some gentle floral notes of dried roses and honeysuckle. Hints of chalk add a nice dry edge while a mix of white chocolate and mint crisp builds interest.
Palate
A wonderfully sweet/sour delivery at full strength with pink grapefruit, pickled pineapple and a hint of passion fruit, mellowing into a creamy sweetness of vanillin-rich oak and white chocolate sauce. Grassy notes, vanilla, sugar, sweet oak, gummy bears, and a certain fruitiness with an alcoholic zing and some gooseberries.
Finish
Medium length with a mix of mellowing fruit, creamy vanilla and a distant, bung cloth-like dustiness. Dough, sugar and bitter toasted wood.
