Description
The Loch Dhu 10 Year Old, famously known as 'The Black Whisky,' is an infamous and controversial single malt from Mannochmore distillery in Speyside. This 10-year-old expression, distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2000, gained its distinctive, almost opaque black color through the use of heavily double-charred American oak casks and a significant amount of spirit caramel (E150a). While it was widely criticized by whisky writers and deemed 'awful' by many, it has since achieved cult status and become a highly collectible item due to its rarity and unique character.
