Description

Lochlea Dark Briar is a bold and indulgent single malt whisky, part of Lochlea's new permanent core range, inspired by their Fallow Edition. It is matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso sherry butts, and Port casks, delivering rich layers of juicy red fruits, ginger cake, and velvety baking spice. The whisky is made from 100% barley grown on Lochlea Farm, distilled and matured entirely on-site in Ayrshire, Scotland. It is bottled at 46% ABV, natural in colour, and non-chill filtered.

Rich and sweet, with aromas of juicy red fruits, pic'n'mix sweets, vanilla caramel, ginger cake, and fresh baking spices. Dark fruits, stewed berries, cocoa powder, dried vine fruits, and gentle oak are also present.
Palate
Full-bodied, bold, and juicy, with prominent notes of cherries, sweet sticky plums, warming tannins, and ginger cake. Fruitcake, Port, and a round, dense texture with velvety tannins.
Finish
Long, rich, and warming, with lingering spice, dried fruit, soft oak, baking notes, and a gentle dryness. Velvety tannins and winter spice with hints of cherry.
