Description

Originally a South Ayrshire cattle farm, Lochlea pivoted to barley growing with the aim of establishing a distillery and finally began producing spirit in 2018. An independent and family-owned distillery, Lochlea benefits from the expertise of ex-Laphroaig distillery manager John Campbell, who oversees the production of this elegant and fruity spirit. Lochlea is steeped in history, the barley is grown on-site. [cite: Scotch Whisky Auctions, 3, 5, 12, 15, 16, 17] The Harvest Edition Second Crop is the second release in Lochlea's seasonal small batch series, inspired by the end of summer when the farm's barley is harvested. This single malt whisky was matured in a combination of Tawny and Ruby Port casks, STR barriques, and first-fill Bourbon barrels, with a higher proportion of Port casks in this release. It is bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, and of natural color.
