Description
Originally a South Ayrshire cattle farm, Lochlea pivoted to barley growing with the aim of establishing a distillery and began producing spirit in 2018. An independent and family-owned distillery, Lochlea benefits from the expertise of ex-Laphroaig distillery manager John Campbell, who oversees the production of this elegant and fruity spirit. Lochlea is steeped in history, with barley grown on the farm. This 'Sowing Edition First Crop' is the first in an annual series of seasonal releases, representing spring when barley seeds are sown. It has been matured in first-fill bourbon barrels, resulting in a young and fruity whisky with notes of pear drops, apples, and custard creams. [cite: Scotch Whisky Auctions, 4, 5, 9]
