A former Highland distillery that was constructed by Joseph Hobbs in 1957 within the structure of a former brewery, first opened in 1786. Only operational until 1992, it mostly produced malt whisky for blending although a Lochside brand was briefly marketed. Nose
Sweet and bright, with notes of pineapple, coconut cream, vanilla bean, malted barley, honeycomb, and banana muffin. Also hints of paraffin, linens, and a slight savoury/tartness.
Palate
Medium texture, with peaches, coconut, banana pudding, and grain-y sugar. Builds to toasted coconut, pineapple, demerara, sandalwood, ginger beer, nutmeg, wet wool, charred oak, poblano peppers, and sundried tomatoes. Slightly herbal and pine-y.
Finish
Medium-short, with clean linens, paraffin, unsalted butter, sundried tomatoes in olive oil, soft peach, and kiwi.
