Nose
The nose is intense and inviting with notes of aged, smoked oak, leather, and dried fruits such as raisins and plums. There are subtle hints of honey, dark chocolate, and a touch of saltiness that highlight the maritime origin of this whisky. The aroma is framed by a deep, earthy peat smoke that beautifully interweaves with the sweeter scents.
Palate
On the palate, a complex and powerful flavor unfolds. Rich notes of dark caramel, walnut, and dried orange peel come to the forefront, along with a pronounced influence of peat and smoke. The flavor is further enhanced by warm spices like clove and a hint of tobacco. The mouthfeel is full and oily, delivering an intense and satisfying experience.
Finish
The finish is long, warming and remains exceptionally well. The peat smoke lingers for a long time, but is accompanied by a soft sweetness of toffee and a light salty undertone. Hints of oak and leather remain, providing a beautiful balance and a lasting impression.
