For a period, Campbeltown was the undisputed Whisky Capital of the World, boasting over 30 distilleries operating simultaneously at its peak. Earthy, dank, and meaty with dark chocolate, dates, rubber, salted biscuits, musty dark red grapes, rancio notes, nutty oak, spearmint, and red apple. Hints of gunpowder, sulphur, dried raspberries, espresso, and sour plums.
Palate
Richly sherried, earthy, and funky with dark chocolate mousse, cola lollies, salted roasted nuts, rubber, rancio dry sherry notes, cured pork, cherries, and buttered mushrooms. Also fermented berries, peat smoke, diesel oil, and sour-sweet fruitiness.
Finish
Long and satisfying with cola lollies, salted roasted nuts, fizzy earthy peat, dark chocolate mousse, musty red grapes, smoked paprika, cured pork, and lingering peat smoke. Oily, viscous, and syrupy.
