Description

The Macallan 1861 Replica is the second release in Macallan's Replica Series, launched in 2002 (some sources indicate 2001). This limited edition single malt Scotch whisky was created to replicate the style, nose, and flavor of an original 1861 Macallan bottling. Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno and John McWilliam crafted this expression by vatting whisky from 28 sherry-seasoned Spanish oak casks. Approximately 17,000 bottles were released globally.

Rich orchard fruits like apple and pear, dried fig notes, hints of orange zest, warm spices of cinnamon and clove, a whisper of toasted oak, citrus, slightly flowery, some caramel and wood.
Palate
Caramelized nuts and spiced vanilla, layers of chocolate, floral undertones, luxurious creamy texture, spicy, some lemon, resin, smoke, and caramel, dried apricot, orange peel, clove-like notes, walnut, light peat.
Finish
Long and elegant, sweet malt with faint smoky oak, lingering warmth, persistently spicy, slightly sweet with some malt and wood, sultana cake, coriander powder, hint of smoke, long, dry, warming and soothing.
