Description
This Macallan 1876 Replica is part of a series of four releases, including replicas of bottles from 1841, 1874, and 1861, created to mimic a bottle of Macallan purportedly produced in 1876. The purpose of this series was to re-create the antique expressions in terms of bottle and label design, as well as to be an accurate re-creation of the whisky's nose and flavour. Bottled in 2003, this is considered the 4th edition in the limited Replica series, with an outturn of 19,800 bottles. The bottle and label are modelled on the original 1876 whisky, including the antique glass's color, irregularities, and structure, and the label of James Stuart & Co., the owner of Macallan at the time. It comes with its original box, which is often velvet-lined, and an additional cork for resealing. The whisky maker Bob Dalgarno recreated the flavor profile by sampling old whisky and carefully selecting a variety of casks.
