Description

The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. Now owned by the Edrington Group, The Macallan prides itself on its Six Pillars, which include its curiously small stills, very narrow 'cut' of new make spirit and exceptional cask management. It is the most sought after whisky for collectors, regularly setting records at auctions all round the world. This Macallan 1965 25 Year Old Anniversary Malt is a discontinued product and remains of interest to whisky collectors.

Nose
stewed fruits, raisins, Christmas cake, baking spice, toffee, leather, candied pecans, maple syrup, tobacco.
Palate
Rich, decadent. Oily but a touch thin. Taste - almost like cognac, baking spice, maraschino cherry syrup, oak, toffee, cinnamon raisin oatmeal (in a good way), Seville oranges, a bit of tar, cigar tobacco.
Finish
warming. The spice, dried fruit, toffee and tobacco notes linger on and on. Almost astringent but somehow sweet. A very slight hint of sulphur.
