Description

Crown jewel of the Edrington Group and one of the best-known names in single malt Scotch, made famous by the legendary status of much of the whisky it has produced over the years, including its Fine & Rare series, Anniversary malts and flagship annual 18-year-old release. This distinguished single malt Scotch whisky from the renowned Speyside distillery was distilled in 1994 and matured for 18 years in select sherry oak casks from Jerez, Spain. It represents the classic heavily-sherried style and was part of the annually produced Sherry Oak series, making it a sought-after collectible due to its discontinuation before the 2018 rebrand.

Rich and decadent with notes of figs, strawberry jam, sweet syrup, dry oak, wood shavings, crème de cacao, crème anglaise, marmalade, apple blossom, and cut flowers. Alcohol is well-integrated.
Palate
Intense sherry sweetness, caramelized brown sugar, cherry cola, dates, raisins, and dark fruits. Rich dried fruits with spice, clove, orange, wood smoke, stewed apples, cinnamon, deep oak, winter spice, Demerara, rum, sherried sultanas, vanilla, cooked apples, cut rosy apples, and mixed peels.
Finish
Medium to long, with lingering sweet sherry notes, dried fruits, sweet toffee, and solid oak. It has the smooth finish Macallan is known for.
