The Macallan Director's Edition, part of The 1700 Series, is a discontinued limited edition single malt Scotch whisky. It was released in 2011 and ceased production in 2012. This expression was matured exclusively in ex-sherry casks, contributing to its rich color and complex flavor profile. It was originally released as a Travel Retail exclusive.

Spiced and ginger, vanilla cream and barrel char, lavender, parma violets, lemon zest. Also notes of old fashioned toffee, sherry-soaked dried fruit, toasted spices, mocha, and dark fruit.
Palate
Sweet and zesty, with hints of spice, malt, and tangy citrus. Notes of fudge, cocoa, nutmeg, chocolate, honey-soaked fruitcake, candied citrus peel, orange blossom, mocha, cinnamon, and ginger. Also lemon peel, vanilla, and a touch of ginger.
Finish
Long and spiced, with tar and linseed oil. Lingering notes of oak, a rounding sweetness, buttery toffee, toasted oak, vanilla, mocha, citrus, caramel, and spiced wood.
