Description
The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. Now owned by the Edrington Group, The Macallan prides itself on its Six Pillars, which include its curiously small stills, very narrow 'cut' of new make spirit and exceptional cask management. It is the most sought after whisky for collectors, regularly setting records at auctions all round the world. The Macallan Fine Oak 17 Year Old is an exceptional single malt that embodies the elegance and craftsmanship of The Macallan's renowned whisky-making tradition. Matured in a unique combination of European oak sherry casks, American oak sherry casks, and American oak bourbon casks, this expression delivers a sophisticated balance of richness, complexity, and delicacy. It was introduced in the US market in 2006 and is part of the Fine Oak range, which was later rebranded as the Triple Cask range in 2018. This expression is now discontinued and highly sought-after.
