Description

Crown jewel of the Edrington Group and one of the best-known names in single malt Scotch, made famous by the legendary status of much of the whisky it has produced over the years, including its Fine & Rare series, Anniversary malts and flagship annual 18-year-old release. This Macallan Forties is part of the Travel Series, also known as the Decades series, which recreates the style of Macallan whiskies from the 1940s. This particular expression reflects the impact of World War II on whisky production, including the more frequent refilling of sherry casks and the use of peat to dry barley, resulting in a less spicy and more peated character than modern Macallans. It was released as a limited edition for the global travel retail market between 1999-2001.
