The Macallan Rare Cask Black 2021 is a limited-release single malt whisky from The Macallan Distillery in Speyside, Scotland. Matured in less than 100 American and European oak sherry-seasoned casks, this expression offers an unusual smoky profile for the distillery. It is a full-bodied spirit integrating notes of nutmeg, dried fruits, and figs, with a long and fruity character.
Based on 3 published Maltiply reviews.
The dried fruit and spice lead into dark chocolate and oak, while the long, warm smoky finish adds a welcome contrast. That balance appeals to me more than sweetness alone; it also gives this Macallan a clear character to discuss with a curious collector.
bookshopwren14 SeptDark chocolate and oak give the SGD 600 reference some context.
harbourwren27 AugThe ginger against the dried-fruit notes gives this a pleasing bit of contrast. Dark chocolate and orange peel bring a richer side, while the warm, smoky finish adds another layer. That balance makes it appealing to me.
