The Macallan 1946 Select Reserve 52 Year Old is a distinct single malt whisky, matured for over half a century. Distilled in 1946, it was bottled on May 1, 1998, at 40% ABV. This release is particularly notable for being distilled from peated malt, a rarity for Macallan and a direct consequence of post-World War II coal shortages, which made peat a more accessible fuel source. Aged in sherry wood casks, this expression is presented in a handcrafted, lockable hardwood case and often includes a certificate of authenticity. It is considered a classic Macallan and is highly sought after by collectors due to its unique peated character, extended aging, and limited availability.

Palate
Super syrupy, oaky, and incredibly soft and gentle. Richly phenolic with lemon and apples, sweet honey, red fruits, and a hint of musty smoke.
Finish
Long and quite subtle, with a mouth-coating oiliness delivering a lasting phenolic and lemony aftertaste. Light spices, especially cinnamon and white pepper, with slightly herbal and earthy notes.
