Description

The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. Now owned by the Edrington Group, The Macallan prides itself on its Six Pillars, which include its curiously small stills, very narrow 'cut' of new make spirit and exceptional cask management. Nose
Dark, rich fruit stew. Dark chocolate and raisins. Mint or menthol, freshness, mixed with herbs or fresh tobacco. Orange zest and cloves.
Palate
Thinner than ideal, but deeply rich in dark fruits (raisins, prunes, dates). Wrapped in pie crust. Dark chocolate squares. Cola notes. Dark fruit reduction. Baking spices and biscuits. Touch of musty, creamy cheese. Salty.
Finish
Ginger and baking spices. PX over a true Basque cheesecake, heavy on the burnt cheese “crust”.
