Description

Mackmyra Gruvguld (Gold from the mine) is a Swedish single malt whisky aged in small casks stored 50 metres below ground in their warehouse at Bodås Mine. Its aromatic richness comes from the wide variety of cask types used to mature the whisky, including Oloroso, Bourbon and Swedish Oak. The character of the whisky is oaky and spicy with notes of vanilla fudge, tobacco leaves, pear drop and sandalwood. More than half of the casks in this release are aged in 30-litre casks of different strength and character, with the rest coming from 100-litre and 128-litre casks. Mackmyra started production of Sweden's first single malt whisky in 1999, using local Swedish ingredients.
