Description
Maker's Mark 46 is the first new major expression from Maker's Mark since 1958, created by Bill Samuels Jr. It starts as fully matured Maker's Mark bourbon, which is then finished with 10 seared virgin French oak staves inserted into the barrels for an additional maturation period, typically 2-3 months, in their limestone cellar. This process aims to amplify notes of vanilla, caramel, and spice, providing a bolder, more complex flavor profile without the bitterness often associated with longer-aged whiskies. The name '46' comes from the stave profile number used.
