Description

A well-renowned bourbon distillery and brand, created by Taylor William "Bill" Samuels Snr. Part of the American whiskey holdings of Suntory Global Spirits, the distillery is located in Loretto, Kentucky and the famously dripping wax-dipped bottles have been sold since 1958. Maker's Mark is a wheated bourbon, replacing the more commonly used rye with wheat as the secondary grain in the mashbill, resulting in a softer, sweeter profile.

Nose
Waves of sweet scents, quintessential caramel and vanilla amplified by a brown sugar undercurrent, with a slight floral note, sweet oak, bright fruit, wheat, nutmeg, and saccharine maple syrup. Sweet apples, pears, cherries, light orange citrus, and light brown sugar.
Palate
Sweet with caramel and vanilla at its core, accented by cinnamon, dark cherry, and toasted oak. Decently oaky with slight astringent tannins, a drying mouthfeel, and sweeter vanilla tones. Pears, light caramel, brown sugar, and a touch of cherries.
Finish
Starts sweet but transitions quickly towards heat and spice, adding depth and length. Smooth and creamy with a pleasant soft spice and clean finish. Medium-short, quite soft with casual warmth and more balanced oak. Becomes increasingly dry, with black pepper, tannins and some barrel char.
