Description

This Mannochmore 12 Year Old is part of Diageo's revered Flora & Fauna series, which was started by United Distillers in 1992 to showcase lesser-known distilleries. The distillery, founded in 1971, is known for its light, fruity, and floral style. The 'Flora and Fauna' nickname was given by whisky writer Michael Jackson due to the animal and plant depictions on the labels. This particular release comes in a wooden presentation box.

Nose
Bright and fresh, with notes of green apples, pear drops, lemon zest, vanilla, honeysuckle, and a soft malty sweetness. Hints of dark honey, toffee, butter, flowers, hay, green twig, toasted oak, green wood, grass, banana, blueberry, golden syrup, and a touch of salt.
Palate
Clean and well-structured, offering flavors of honey, crisp orchard fruits (apricots, apple, pears), creamy toffee, gentle oak spice, cinnamon, and herbal freshness. Light smoke, barley sugar, wood oil, salt, citrus-peel bitterness, rich oak, tobacco, char, and a subtle oyster-y note. Also notes of vanilla, tapioca pudding, plum, powdered sugar, and a slightly oily, buttery texture.
Finish
Medium and warming, with lingering notes of citrus, soft oak, and a delicate hint of dry spice. Sweet, with nuts, barley sugar, black pepper, honey, powdered sugar, and blueberry. Can be drying, with some bitterness, tree bark, and earthy notes.
