Description

The Mars Maltage 3 Plus 25 Pure Malt 28 Year Old is a luxurious blend of rare whiskies from the Shinshu Mars Distillery in Japan. It is a marriage of 3-year-old whiskies distilled at the now-closed Kagoshima and Yamanashi distilleries, which were then matured for an additional 25 years at the Shinshu Mars Distillery in Nagano. This limited-edition release was awarded World's Best Blended Malt Whisky at the 2013 World Whiskies Awards.

Sweet aromas of dried fruits and vanilla, rich dried fruits, honeyed toffee, gentle oak spice with subtle citrus and malt, luscious apricots, ginger, soft leather, Seville oranges, lemon barley, toffee, vanilla, stewed rhubarb, lime juice, gentle pepper, pine nut, pineapple, walnut, licorice, and a waxy element.

Smooth and rich taste, ripe orchard fruits, caramelized nuts, delicate honey sweetness, intertwined with subtle layers of oak spice, rich, intense flavor, smooth and rounded big toffee, apricot jam, stewed rhubarb, Chinese five spice, creamy, pistachios, leather, frangipatty, strawberry compote, walnuts, and licorice.

Smooth and rich, lingering, silky, pleasant, medium to long, balanced on sweet dry combo, with a little minerality.
