Description
Mellow Corn Bottled in Bond Corn Whiskey is a unique and often underappreciated spirit produced by Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. It is a Kentucky Straight Corn Whiskey, distilled from a mash bill of at least 80% corn (some sources indicate 90% corn, 10% rye and malted barley, or 80% corn, 12% malted barley, 8% rye). Adhering to the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, it is aged for a minimum of four years in once-used bourbon barrels (or used oak barrels), and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) under U.S. government supervision. This aging process in used barrels, unlike bourbon's new charred oak, results in a lighter color and allows the corn-forward sweetness to shine, making it a distinctive and affordable American whiskey.
