Description

Midleton Very Rare 2022 is the 39th edition of this annual vintage release, crafted by Master Distiller Kevin O'Gorman. It is a blend of rare and hand-selected single pot still and single grain Irish whiskeys, aged between 12 and 33 years, and matured in lightly charred first-fill and refill ex-bourbon American oak barrels. This limited edition release is bottled at 40% ABV and is renowned for its luxurious, balanced aroma and taste profile.

Nose
Fruit-led introduction with fresh citrus notes of mandarin and candied apple, dustings of white pepper with grated nutmeg, hazelnut chocolate and toffee, charred oak, fresh floral tones, sweet vanilla, and warming toasted wood aromas.
Palate
Caramelised red apples and orange zest with luscious, sweet, and decadent waves of crème brûlée, seamlessly intertwined with pot still spices and cereal undertones, creating an intriguing medley of fruits and spices. Also notes of vanilla pod, golden syrup, coconut, milk chocolate, and hazelnut praline.
Finish
Rich and lasting finish in which the grain and pot still spices are the first to softly fade, allowing the oak to have the final say. Also notes of bittersweet cereals, woody spices, malty biscuits, praline, freshly sawn oak, and orange oils.
