Description

One of the world's most modern distilleries, Midleton of East County Cork, Ireland, was built in 1975. This exclusive bottling of Midleton pot still Irish whiskey, aged for 27 years in a specially selected first-fill American bourbon barrel, was distilled on January 12, 1995, and bottled in 2022 from cask #987. It was carefully selected for Harrods of Knightsbridge and is one of only 180 bottles produced. Midleton stays true to the traditional method of crafting Irish whiskey, distilling a mash of both malted and unmalted Irish barley in large copper pots to make this rich and earthy tipple, lending complexity to its sweet, nutty notes of honeycomb and caramelised fruits. The whiskey was filtered to remove wood char prior to being bottled at cask strength and no chill filtration was used.

Nose
Orange zest with rich notes of vanilla and toffee fudge, followed by apricots, peach, and sweet pear. Mild spice notes of nutmeg and pepper build over time, with charred oak accentuating cereal notes and a confectionary sweetness.
Palate
Luscious and exotic fruit tones, accompanied by sweet notes of barley sugar, vanilla, and chocolate. Pot still spices grow, adding complex intensity, while toasted oak contributes a hint of vanilla sweetness and subtle tannins.
Finish
Rich and lingering, with spices continuing to build as toasted oak and fruit character gently subside.
