Description

A powerhouse Irish whiskey distillery located in the town after which it is named in Co. Cork. It was built in 1975 by Irish Distillers in order to centralise production of its brand portfolio and today is home to names like Jameson, Redbreast and Method & Madness. Midleton Very Rare is a premium Irish whiskey, produced by the Irish Distillers subsidiary of Pernod Ricard at the New Midleton Distillery. This blended Irish whiskey was released in 1994 as part of Midleton's highly sought after annual Very Rare series, 10 years after the range was first started. It is a blend of triple-distilled pot-still and grain whiskey, matured in selected bourbon casks. Each bottle is individually numbered and signed by the Master Distiller, Barry Crockett.

Nose
Spices to the fore, nutmeg and mild ginger with aromatic wood notes of cedar and fresh pine beginning to slowly appear in tandem with toasted almonds. The sweetness continues to build with a salted caramel element while the toasted oak influence remains constant throughout.
Palate
Peppery overtures with sweet and luscious undertones. Notes of freshly grated ginger with hints of white pepper are first to appear before subsiding to reveal dark brown sugar, vanilla and a nuttiness that complements the pot still spices.
Finish
Elegant and lasting with the sweet notes and toasted oak the first to fade allowing the spices to linger until the very end.
