Description

A powerhouse Irish whiskey distillery located in the town after which it is named in Co. Cork. It was built in 1975 by Irish Distillers in order to centralise production of its brand portfolio and today is home to names like Jameson, Redbreast and Method & Madness. The 36th edition in the Midleton Very Rare collection, this 2019 vintage is a masterfully blended Irish whiskey from distillates laid down at Midleton Distillery over the past four decades. It combines hand-selected single pot still and single grain Irish whiskeys, matured exclusively in lightly-charred ex-bourbon American oak barrels for between 13 and 34 years. This marks some of the oldest whiskey ever used in a Midleton Very Rare vintage release.

Ripe fruit notes of sweet pear and apple, delicate mango, charred American oak, brown sugar, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove spice, rich toffee, muscovado sugar, tropical fruit, and oak char.
Palate
Luscious and silky texture with orchard fruits and pot still spices, soft floral notes, mild tannins, wood spice, green apple, ginger root, tablet fudge sweetness, sugary cereal, pineapple, mango, charred vanilla oak, and creamy nuttiness.
Finish
Fruits and gentle spice slowly fade, giving way to an oak foundation with mild roasted coffee, nutty character, earthy spice, crisp, ripe, and candied fruits, and gentle tannins.
