Description

In 1976, Master Distiller Fred van Zuidam and Designer Hélène van Zuidam started making liqueurs and genevers under the name Zuidam Distillers. The sons of Fred and Hélène, Patrick and Gilbert then took over the helm. Distilled in the Netherlands, the big dream of whiskey lover Patrick van Zuidam was always to make his own whisky and the Zuidam family has worked long and hard to realize this dream. This 2009 vintage has been aged for seven years in new American oak and is a unique and flavoursome whisky, bottled as a TWE Exclusive.

Nose
Sugar-coated baked apples with a side of marzipan and toffee. Rich and inviting, with notes of spicy rye, cinnamon, pastry dough and salted caramel, but balanced with aromas of Seville orange peel, orchard fruit and a soft floral note.
Palate
Rich mouthfeel, with toffee and sweet spice initially – spiced rye bread, roasted almonds and glazed citrus peel, joined by cinnamon-cookie dough and salted butter. Big and spicy, but never gets out of hand, thanks to the soft fruitiness.
Finish
Long, leaving some heat in the mouth. Pepper, polished oak and still this burnt, bitter edge.
