A Japanese whisky distillery owned by the Nikka Whisky Distilling Co and the second built by Masataka Taketsuru. It primarily produces lightly- and non-peated malts and as of 1999 has also distilled malt and grain whiskies on the old Nishinomia Coffey stills. Full and summery with vanilla, beeswax, exotic fruits (pineapple, mango, papaya, blackberry jam), lemon sherbet, ginger, cinnamon, coconut, sawdust, and later chocolate and cigars. Also notes of brine, delicate smoke, malted barley, oranges, caramel, foamy bananas, pear drops, and orange Cremola Foam.
Palate
Fruit skins with slight bitterness, chocolate, bananas, white pepper, peppermint tea, Cadbury's mini eggs, milk chews, condensed milk, mango, Nutella, walnuts, Jamaica cake, coconut, and tobacco. With water, notes of lemons, grapefruits, mango, honey, and more caramel.
Finish
Complex with coconut and tobacco. Medium length and pleasantly warming, with lasting notes of caramel and malted barley.
