Description

The unforeseen popularity of Japanese whisky in the 21st century resulted in Nikka finding themselves understocked for their Miyagikyo core range in 2015, discontinuing all of their age-statements as a consequence. This was launched as the sole core range product, but no less well-regarded. A Japanese whisky distillery owned by the Nikka Whisky Distilling Co and the second built by Masataka Taketsuru. It is known for its delicate, floral, and fruity profile.

Nose
Fruity and floral with hints of spice, light char, white meadow flowers, apple, pear, banana, lemon, vanilla, ginger, charcoal smoke, liquorice, malted barley, honey, and beeswax. Elegant and floral with orchard fruit like pear, green apple, and quince, layered with honey, light chocolate, and subtle spice. Underlying notes of oak, cedar, and a whisper of peat provide depth.
Palate
Smooth and elegant, with flavors of ripe pear, caramel, baking spices, subtle nuttiness, barley sugar, tangerine, milk chocolate, ginger, charcoal smoke, pecan fattiness, dark chocolate, and freshly cut oak. Honeyed barley, fruit zest, vanilla, cinnamon, almonds, baked citrus peel, with a touch of coastal salinity or soft smoke.
Finish
Short to medium, with strong banana, liquorice, oak, refreshing lemon oil notes. Long and graceful, with lingering sweetness, delicate spice, and a touch of oak. Malt sweetness, soft oak tannins, mild smoke, and lingering spice and fruit.
