Description

Mortlach 58 years old distilled in 1961 and bottled at its natural strength from a single cask. 137 bottles. Private Collection brings together a collection of exceptional single malts in terms of age and quality. From unique barrels shaped by time, they are a credit to distilleries, whether famous, discreet or silent. Private Collection captures the very essence of Gordon & MacPhail: enhancing whisky. Made in 1961 at Mortlach distillery, this Speyside single malt was matured in a single first-fill sherry hogshead for more than half a century, before being bottled in March 2019 for Gordon & MacPhail's Private Collection.

Nose
Beautiful aromas of fresh orange groves transform into velvety chocolate truffles filled with sherry. Fresh, sweet honeysuckle tones add depth to chocolate orange.
Palate
Dark chocolate with vibrant bursts of orange oil. Candied fruit with gentle oak notes lead to subtle humidor nuances.
Finish
Long and smooth; dark chocolate with orange and dried fruit. Hints of charred oak complement the slight meatiness of the dram, leading into lingering warm roasted chestnuts.
