Description
The name given to single malt whisky distilled at Miltonduff distillery using Lomond stills. It was one of several experiments of this kind conducted by Hiram Walker & Sons in the 20th century, and the stills at Miltonduff were active between 1964 and 1981. Rarest of the Rare was an independent brand of single malt and grain Scotch whiskies produced by the bottler, Duncan Taylor. Produced until 2012, the label was reserved for casks in the company's inventory that were filled at since-closed distilleries. Mosstowie was a short-lived experiment, producing malt whisky on Lomond stills at Miltonduff distillery between 1964 and 1981. Most of Mosstowie's whisky was intended for blends and very few casks survived to be bottled as single malt.
