Description

Nagahama is a tiny distillery on the shores of Lake Biwa in Shiga, known for an aromatic spirit shaped by small alembic pot stills. This single cask was made using peated grain, giving a clearly smoky profile that is more elegant and smouldering than overpowering. Combined with Mizunara oak, it becomes a compelling mix of smoke, incense like wood, spicy oils and refined fruit.

Nose
Soft, smouldering smoke with a lightly ashy edge, immediately supported by Mizunara notes of sandalwood and incense. Behind that: ripe pear, dried apricot and a touch of honey. Citrus oil and a subtle coconut note add lift and keep it focused.
Palate
Rounded and concentrated with a smoky core that doesn't shout but lingers. Vanilla and lightly toasted oak lead, then spicy wood oils, incense and a hint of nutmeg unfold. Fruit stays present as yellow apple, pear and candied citrus, while the smoke shifts toward campfire embers and warm ash.
Finish
Medium to long with lingering smoke, sandalwood and a dry, perfumed oak spice. In the tail you'll still find honey, citrus zest and a gentle incense note fading slowly.
