North Island winemakers Warren & Deb Preston identified Oamaru's historic Harbour Precinct as an ideal seaside climate for their new passion - maturing whisky in ex-red wine barrels. Their focus on using local red-wine casks garnered a reputation of whisky that is acclaimed, admired & replicated right around the world. In 'The Oamaruvian' - our 1st Cask Strength release, we continue this tradition of rich, Cask Strength whisky. Our Head Distiller & Master Blender Michael Byers, a trained winemaker himself, specially selected the ex-red wine casks for the characteristics & further maturing of our single malt Oamaruvian.
