Description

The Nikka whisky company was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, with the creation of his Yoichi distillery on the island of Hokkaido. Super Nikka is a classic style of blended whisky with gentle peatiness and hints of vanilla and sherry. These beautiful flavors are rounded and well-balanced with a smooth texture and mellow mouthfeel. It contains a high proportion of malt from Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries.

Nose
Malty, notes of cooked apples, porridge oats, pear, beeswax and honey. Elegant scent of sage, mirabelle and leather. Caramel and vanilla. Chocolate and hints of citrus and toasted oak.
Palate
Rich and malty. Orange zest, toffee and oak, with hints of peanut butter and cocoa. A mellow core (lavender honey, almond milk), ash, vegetal notes (malted barley) seasoned with a pinch of salt. Notes of marshmallow and violet. Banana, malt, ginger, and caramel. Sweet, oil, a little harsh, toffee, almond, cinnamon.
Finish
Decent length with stewed fruits, cloves, a hint of cinnamon and digestive biscuits. A light smokiness along with freshly cut grass and anise flavours. More banana, as well as milk chocolate. Hints of pepper. Lingers.
