Description
The Nikka Yoichi 15 Year Old is a single malt whisky produced exclusively at the Yoichi Distillery, Nikka's first distillery founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru. It is known for its bold, peaty character and traditional Scottish-style production methods, including the use of coal-fired pot stills. Matured for 15 years or more in a combination of ex-bourbon, ex-sherry, and virgin American oak casks, it develops a rich and complex flavor profile with notes of fruit, smoke, and a hint of saltiness from its coastal aging environment. This expression was a flagship product, now discontinued due to stock shortages.
