Established in 1961 and after a period of inactivity the His Excellency brand - owned by Bartels Whisky - was successfully relaunched in 2013. This is a very dark-coloured blended grain scotch. Distilled in 1973 at North of Scotland and bottled at 25% strength, and at 48 years old. Nose
Gentle buttered corn, warm ginger, soft caramel, and a whisper of honeyed cereal. Rich fruity smooth tones, vanilla and golden syrup, some sweet cereal aromas and whipped toffee.
Palate
Smooth mouth coating with dark fruits and vanilla, chewy toffee and cream filled shoe pastry, glazed fruit cake, damson and pink chocolate sweetness before a nice sweet oak comes into play.
Finish
Light, nostalgic, with hints of apple, popcorn, and lingering gentle malt.
