Description

Oban 14 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky, part of Diageo's Classic Malts Selection. Established in 1794, the distillery is one of Scotland's oldest and smallest, located in the coastal town of Oban. This 14-year-old expression is known for balancing Highland fruitiness with a subtle maritime influence and a hint of smoke, matured predominantly in refill American oak hogshead casks.

Nose
Light, heathery, fruity and zesty, with heather honey sweetness, malt, and a little smoke. Fresh oranges, lemons, and pears, with a hint of salt and peat. Sweet aromas of toffee and sticky pudding, subtle smoke, tropical fruit, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Palate
Smoky, creamy with marmalade, toffee apples, pear cider, and cloves. Dried fig, spice, and smoked malt dryness. Rich caramel, burnt butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, medicinal notes, salt, wood, peat, dried fruits, cherries, ginger, and pepper corns. Sweet and lush with sherry-like flavors of almond and sea salt.
Finish
Long, malty with toasty oak and spice. Smooth, oaky sweet with a grain of salt. Medium with sweet caramel and raisin cake with a mild warmth. Bright, acidic, like apple cider with lemon. Drying, with elegant coating tannins rich in dark chocolate character, pine-fresh, and a trace of cedary smoke.
