Description

The Oban 1995 Distillers Edition is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 1995 and bottled in 2010, making it a 15-year-old expression. It is part of Diageo's 'The Distillers Edition' series, which features double-matured whiskies. This particular release was initially matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks for 14 years, followed by a second maturation in Montilla Fino Sherry Casks. The distillery, established in 1794, is known for its lightly peated, coastal Highland style. This limited edition release is bottled at 43% ABV and comes with a batch code of OD 159.FW.

Nose
Delightfully complex with crushed grapes, orange zest, salt, and smoke. Waxy, sweet, with dried apricot fruitiness, damp soil, wood, and marzipan. Hints of salty sea breeze and a light, grapey note, growing pungent with smoke and spice.
Palate
Soft malts, delicate fruits, and waves of brine. Sweet honey, bitter chocolate with marzipan, followed by honey-covered nuts and apricot jam. Creamy smooth and gently grapey, developing malty flavors with a backbone of sea salt and white-pepper spiciness.
Finish
Notes of sweetened Jamaican coffee and oak wood. Sugary sweet with bitter cocoa and figs. Peppery spice builds with green oak. Long, attractively sweet-smoky and clean, with appetizing oak-spice and a lightly peppery aftertaste.
