Description

This is the first release of the Oban entry in Diageo's Distillers Edition range, distilled in 1980. It is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky that underwent double maturation, being finished in Montilla Fino Sherry casks to enhance its character with an extra chunk of spice and richness, complementing Oban's signature maritime notes.

Nose
Succulent honeyed traits with a briney background, hints of chalk and wax, fruity scents like oranges and passion fruits, floral notes, and a bit of smoke.
Palate
Initially sweet and liqueur-like, developing into rich nutty, malty, and full-bodied flavors with dark chocolate, spice, green tea, tobacco, candied ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and a backbone of sea salt and gentle white-pepper spiciness.
Finish
Warming and coating, medium length, turning spicier and slightly drying, with a late peaty finesse, chocolatey, and attractively sweet-smoky.
