Description

Towards the latter half of the 18th century, the Duke of Argyll, keen to encourage economic prosperity in the region, offered extremely low rents to people willing to settle on his lands. Two people who took advantage of this opportunity were the Stevenson brothers, who utilised a slate quarry on the island of Belnahua to construct several buildings, including a brewery, in the mainland fishing village of Oban. This is the second release in The Macleans Series, honoring Young Teddy Maclean, who followed in his father's footsteps at the Oban Distillery. It is a limited edition, distillery exclusive bottling, finished in ex-Oloroso and ex-Palo Cortado sherry casks.

Sweet, bright, uplifting aromas of fresh green apple, toffee, sultana, hazelnut, citrus blossom, milk chocolate, salted caramel, walnut, malty, pear, apricot, mirabelle, caramel, buttery croissant, biscuit dough, strawberry tartlet, white tea, subtly floral, mild sweet scents of caramel, faint maritime scent, salt crystals, dry sand, treacle toffee, nut brittle, coffee aromas.
Palate
Creamy, viscous, light-fruited, white pepper, leather, wet coffee grounds, green tobacco, honey, toffee, distinct fruitiness and sweetness, ginger, pepper-like warmth, green apple (stewed/cooked), caramelised apple, apple crumble, robust maltiness (biscuity/cereal-like), hazelnut praline, toasted almond, salty brine, custard powder, sweet overall with a trace of salt, spicier, sweeter robes.
Finish
Decent length, warming, vibrant, sweeter characteristics fade to reveal biscuity malt and peppery gingery spices, lingering, hint of salt, good oak (no bitterness), little caramel, some honey, salty kiss, maritime, long and spicy, shake of white pepper, glimpse of Sherry cask characters.
