Description

A youthful, dynamic Islay single malt, Octomore 13.1 was distilled in 2016 using 100% Scottish barley, malted to a mind-boggling 137.3ppm, and matured in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels for five years. The palate offers notes of coconut, treacle toffee and vanilla, wrapped in layer upon layer of rich peat smoke. Limited stock Product is being loaded

Nose
Initial impressions of sweet nutty smoke, loaded with barley sugar and ripe fruit, including syrupy apricot and pear. Malty vanilla notes of barley flour, Crème Brulee, honey, and tablet. American oak brings coconut, almonds, and charred oak. The peat smoke is delicate yet powerful, with hints of boot polish, leather, earthy notes, lemon zest, green apple, sea spray, smoked kippers, and medicinal peat.
Palate
A viscous texture delivers densely smoked grain, like smoked granola with honeyed fruit. Layers of smoked apricot jam, barley flour, peat embers, burnt heather, gooseberry, and sweet Turkish delight. Notes of coconut, treacle toffee, vanilla, charred peaches, creamy oatcakes drizzled with heather honey, toasted coconut, spiced ginger cake, toasted oak, vanilla cream, a touch of honey, citrus fruits, and a subtle savory note. Oak chips, sugared almonds, chocolate-limes, and spicy aniseed come towards the finish.
Finish
The sweetness fades, leaving an earthy, mossy note wrapped in dry heathery peat smoke. Salty-citrus and floral notes of geranium and rose emerge calmly. Long, with lingering smoke, sweet, cooked cereals, and a touch of spice.
