Description

Established as Speciality Drinks in 1999, Elixir Distillers was set up by brothers Sukhinder and Raj Singh who are also known for founding the online spirits retail site the Whisky Exchange. The independent bottlers have several ranges including the Single Malts of Scotland, Elements of Islay, and Port Askaig. The Elements range draws its inspiration from traditional medical laboratory labels. This Oc3 bottling is a 7-year-old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, distilled in 2009 and 2010, and bottled in 2016 at cask strength 60.3% ABV. It was matured in a mix of first-fill Bourbon and Sauternes casks.

Nose
Deep heavy peat, even for an Octomore. Some vanilla and freshly cut grass. Hint of lemon and strawberries.
Palate
Thick, rich, and oily mouthfeel. Very much Octomore. Starts out pretty sweet. A mouth full of fresh red fruit. Raspberries, strawberries, and cherries. A bit of lychee and lemon. Cake frosting. Brine. Salty and sweet at the same time.
Finish
Long finish. Layers of creme brûlée and smoke intertwined. Loads of sea salt. A bit of oak and spice as well.
