Description
Old Fitzgerald has a long history of high-quality Bourbon releases, with the brand being registered in 1884 by S. C. Herbst. It was eventually bought by the famous Julian P. 'Pappy' Van Winkle during the Prohibition era in the 1920s. After moving production of Old Fitzgerald to his Stitzel-Weller distillery, Pappy developed it into the first great Wheated Bourbon. In the late 1990s, Heaven Hill purchased the brand and currently produces it. Old Fitzgerald's 1849 pays homage to the old style of wheated bourbon, celebrating the mash bill created by John Fitzgerald. Made with a 'whisper of wheat' instead of the more traditional rye grain, it offers a unique, mellow, and sophisticated taste profile with fruity sweet and crisp overtones.
